Children's Book of the Year
Now in its third year, the Children’s Book of the Year aims to showcase the best new fiction for children aged 9-12.
Parents and guardians, teachers and library staff can nominate books which fit the below criteria:
Fiction published in English for the first time in 2020.
A standalone novel – the first book in a new series will be accepted but no sequels.
The author must be from the UK, Ireland or Channel Islands (we’d like to try and get the winner over for the award ceremony so they can’t be too far away!).
What are we looking for?
An original and captivating new book with an engaging plot which you’d be excited to recommend to a child aged 9-12.
The characters should be interesting, believable and mature or learn from their experiences throughout the story.
A vivid setting which adds to the overall story.
